Done Sustainably
World Without Waste
We recognize our responsibility to help solve complex plastic waste challenges facing our planet and society. That’s why, in 2018, we launched an ambitious strategy called World Without Waste to drive systemic change through a circular economy for our packaging.
Sustainability in Foodservice
Consumers care about sustainability, so much so that when deciding which restaurant to visit, 70% of consumers are influenced by sustainability programs – especially programs around recycling and reducing food waste.[2]
Four in 10 consumers will pay more for more sustainable packaging.[3]
60% of operators feel that sustainability actions are necessary to remain competitive, with 69% indicating they see sustainability as a key differentiator for their business.[4]
All of this demonstrates a significant opportunity to appeal to consumers’ passions, and we are responding by implementing sustainable initiatives.

Closing the Loop
We’re partnering with our customers to increase sustainability in a variety of ways, a few of which we are highlighting at the show:
- Packaging Innovations: Coca-Cola North America has transitioned a selection of plastic bottles across the portfolio to 100% recycled plastic (excludes cap and label) material helping to address one of the globe’s largest environmental concerns: plastic waste.
- Improving Collection: Coca-Cola is helping operators navigate recycling through best-in-class messaging and marketing initiatives, connecting with partners like SmartSort, and helping to educate guests on how to properly recycle their items. SmartSort bins use AI to determine how a guest should properly dispose of their item.
- Closed Loop Systems: We are focused on reuse within our dispensed operations, our Fountain and Freestyle equipment. One way we are doing this is through partnerships with third-party operators like rCUP. Through a logistics network, reusable cups are collected in bins, washed at a central wash hub and then returned to the stores.
